Rodriguez becomes Rose’s first Bournemouth signing

Alvaro Rodriguez has signed a long-term deal with Bournemouth, becoming Marco Rose’s first signing at the club.

Rodriguez has reportedly put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Cherries, who are said to have signed him in a deal worth up to £25.7m (€30.1m) from Elche.

He spent just one season at Elche, having joined in July 2025 from Real Madrid, and made 36 appearances in all competitions.

Rodriguez netted seven goals in LaLiga, the third-highest tally among Elche players in 2025-26, but no player in the team had more goal involvements than him (12 – also five assists).

“It feels like a great privilege to be here,” Rodriguez told the club’s media channels.

“I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League, and now, on my birthday, that dream has become reality.

“It has been a dream since I was a child. When my agent told me Bournemouth were interested, I couldn’t believe it.

“Everything I’ve experienced so far has prepared me for this next chapter, and now I want to keep improving and show what I can do.”

Rose, who replaced Andoni Iraola in the dugout, is also targeting a centre-back in this transfer window, having now brought in a striker to challenge Evanilson.

Bournemouth are also aiming to keep hold of Alex Scott, with hopes he will sign a new contract amid interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The Cherries begin their Premier League campaign against Manchester City on August 23.
